I am a journalist and editor with more than a decade of experience in media. I’ve worked for media organizations in New York, Toronto, Hong Kong, Chicago and Montreal.
I am currently Deputy Head of Social Media at The Economist where I help lead the newspaper’s daily social operations and management of the transatlantic team. I also develop and implement our social-media strategy across multiple platforms with a particular focus on audiences in North America. As well, I work with marketing teams at the newspaper to ensure The Economist’s brand, identity and voice are consistent across our paid social activities.
Previously, I was executive producer of digital content at Postmedia and deputy to the media organization’s national director of digital strategy. I led, oversaw and collaborated on the digital content strategy for Postmedia’s newsrooms across Canada, developing editorial best practices, workflow and processes to launch new projects, initiatives and products. I also co-created and launched National Post’s mentorship pilot program which focused on mentorship, leadership and workshops, and was being used as a framework for a company-wide professional development initiative.
Prior to Postmedia, I was a content strategist with the Globe Content Studio, the content marketing operation of The Globe and Mail. I was also a digital and social-media editor with The Globe’s newsroom where I developed its mobile and push notifications strategy, programmed start screens for news and business, set print and digital priorities for the news organization’s Report on Business section, and developed and executed social-media strategies. I was also part of a working group that created, wrote and produced ‘Evening Update’, an evening newsletter for commuters.
I have written for Time, MarketWatch, The Globe and Mail, Report on Business Magazine, Maclean’s, Canadian Business and Chatelaine, among other publications. My work for Report on Business Magazine was nominated for a Canadian National Magazine Award in 2017.
I’m a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University (MSJ) and McGill University (BCom).
